About Dr. Schultz

W. Randall Schultz, M.D.

Fellowship Trained & Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, Adult Joint Reconstruction and Sports Medicine

Dr. Schultz specializes in and is fellowship trained in orthopaedic sports medicine where he trained under Dr. Jesse DeLee, Dr. John Evans, and Dr. David R. Schmidt in San Antonio, TX .His fellowship also encompassed complex adult hip and knee joint reconstruction.He has a special interest in ACL reconstruction, minimally invasive knee and hip replacement, computer navigated surgery, and resurfacing hip arthroplasty.

Dr. Schultz is a native Austinite and a graduate of Austin High School where he was the starting varsity quarterback for four years before earning a football scholarship to Rice University.At Austin High, Dr. Schultz set Austin High and AISD records in passing yardage and was inducted in the Maroon Society as graduating senior; Dr. Schultz was also named among the top 55 (FAB55) High School Football players by the Austin American Statesman.After several knee injuries sidelined his football career, Dr. Schultz graduated from the University of Virginia. Dr. Schultz attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and completed his general surgical internship and orthopaedic surgery residency training at Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire.While at Dartmouth, Dr. Schultz also earned a master's degree in outcomes research and evidence based medicine.

Dr. Schultz enjoys the academic pursuit of medicine and has published several publications in the field of ACL reconstruction and hip surgery. During his sports medicine fellowship Dr. Schultz gained vast experience in treating athletic injuries at all levels, from high school to the professional level.Dr. Schultz has two daughters and enjoys hunting, golf, and sports of all kinds.

Dr. Schultz is Board Certified by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Schultz is also the Team Physician for the Austin High School Athletic Department.

Physician Assistant for Dr. W. Randall Schultz

Joy Mitchell, PA-C is the Physician Assistant for Dr. Randall Schultz. Joy earned her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bethel College in Tennessee.  Joy is a member of the American Academy of Physicians Assistants, Texas Academy of PAs, and Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. She is board certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physicians Assistants
